Caprese mix Sandwich 

INGREDIENTS:

​

Croissant, sourdough or any sandwich bread

Pesto 

Fresh mozzarella (can be substituted with shredded mozzarella)

Salt, Pepper and Oregano 

Sliced Tomatoes 

Mixed salad greens

Mayonnaise 

Basil

Balsamic glaze (optional) to brush on top of the sandwich

Olive oil/butter (for bread, not croissant)

For Balsamic glaze:

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar 

2tbsp honey 

1tsp salt 

1tsp mustard(optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

​

Croissant: 

  1. Cut the croissant in half ensuring that they are still slightly attached to each other.

  2. Bake in the oven at 200 degrees F for 2-5 minutes until lightly baked(crisp)/ light golden brown.

  3. Once it is taken out of the oven, apply mayo to one side of the croissant and pesto to the other side.

  4. Place the lettuce, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella on top. Press the sandwich lightly. 

  5. Wrap it in foil and bake it for another 1-3 minutes or until you get your desired crispiness. 

 

Bread or sourdough:​

1. Simply put all the ingredients together and cook on low heat allowing the cheese to melt well on the inside and the bread to remain crisp on the outside. 

2. Add a little olive oil/butter towards the end and sprinkle oregano, pepper, salt and parmesan cheese then let it cook for around 1 minute.

3. Slice and enjoy with some chips on the side!

** Mayonnaise can be substituted for butter and cooked face down.

Balsamic glaze: In a pan on low heat for around 2-5 minuets simply mixthe ingredients together and glaze as much as desired!

Caprese mix option:  Add homefries into your sandwich then make it as usual! This Caprese sandwich can be made in many different styles by experimenting in your own kitchen!
